Abstract

The 21st-century learning process emphasizes the critical thinking student's ability to connect knowledge and real life and master the information of technology, communication, and collaboration. The purpose of the research is to find out how the implementation of Wordwall as a media assesses the cognitive skills, the critical thinking skills of Islamic elementary school students. This research was conducted at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sumber Magelang.  This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design.  The researcher uses interviews, observation, and documentation to collect data. Data is collected through various sources including interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings from the collected research data are then analyzed using the interactive data analysis technique by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion. The result of the research shows that Wordwall can be used as one of the media to assess cognitive skills and to improve the higher-order thinking skills of Islamic elementary school students. The teacher uses many alternative models or templates to develop the questions based on the national assessment. Wordwall helps the teacher to make the cognitive assessment. There are advantages and a lack of Wordwall. The advantages of Wordwall are, that the students enjoy doing the assessment, helping the students to practice using the information and communication of technology. The application has a time count, so make the students do the assessment calmly and carefully. And the lack of Wordwall is an application based on an online website, so the teacher has to check and prepare the network as well as possible. Meanwhile, some templates must be paid to use the premium feature.
