Keywords:
Numeracy literacy skills, Integrated literacy learningAbstract
The lack of student numeracy literacy skills as indicated by the low results of the national assessment indicates a learning process that strengthens students' reading, writing and critical thinking skills. What teachers do is still subjective and limited to the content of certain subjects. To improve reading and writing abilities while meeting the demands of 21st Century skills, the learning strategies used must focus more on critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity competencies. This research aims to determine efforts to improve students' numeracy literacy skills through implementing integrated literacy learning strategies. This strategy combines reading literacy, numeracy, science and social culture in one learning objective. This type of research is Classroom Action Research with qualitative research methods. The research subjects were 7th grade students at MTsN 28 Jakarta. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and literacy skills tests. The research results show that integrated literacy learning can improve students' numeracy literacy skills, both in understanding texts and applying numeracy, science and socio-cultural literacy as demonstrated by increasing students' competency achievements. Apart from that, this strategy increases students' learning motivation, as well as broadening their insight into the material from various points of view and its application in everyday life, especially in solving problems. The conclusion of this research is that the implementation of integrated literacy learning strategies is effective in supporting the improvement of students' numeracy literacy skills. Based on the results of this research, it is recommended that teachers can develop and implement integrated learning strategies on an ongoing basis by collaborating between subject teachers.
