Abstract

This study explores the implementation of socio-cultural literacy in madrasas in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis from three madrasas. The research reveals that socio-cultural literacy programs in these madrasas are influenced by local Sasak culture and Islamic values. Key findings include the integration of local wisdom in the curriculum, the use of collaborative learning methods, and challenges in balancing traditional and modern literacy approaches. This study contributes to understanding the unique context of socio-cultural literacy in Indonesian madrasas and offers insights for policy-makers and educators in developing culturally responsive literacy programs.
