Abstract

The results of PISA 2022 show that Indonesia's scientific literacy level is still below average, lagging behind the global average, although six levels have increased since 2018. This study uses the LOK-R model to examine the application of scientific literacy in phase E of science learning. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with teachers and students as data sources. The findings are presented in three focus areas: (1) the application of integrated science learning with scientific literacy by teachers at MAS Al-Ittihad, (2) the integration of science learning with scientific literacy using the LOK-R model, and (3) the challenges faced by students and teachers in implementing integrated science learning with scientific literacy using the LOK-R model. This study reveals that integrating scientific literacy can increase student engagement and learning activities.
